| Founded in 1978, CAS first served small, medium and large businesses in the Washington Metropolitan Area with custom
application development for IBM AS/400 systems (and its predecessors). |
||
| In the early 1980s, we saw the opportunity to further our offerings by developing software application packages for retail,
distribution and non-profit organizations. By expanding into software packages, we expanded our customer base to cover the entire
country. With the emergence of personal computers and local area networks, we established a network engineering practice. |
||
| In the early 1990s, we became an IBM hardware re-seller to complement its software and services offerings. With this change, we
expanded the range of IBM hardware and software supported to cover the entire IBM product set. We made a significant investment in
creating a world-class engineering and technical services group that could integrate the diverse IBM offerings into total solutions
for our customers. We listened to needs of customers and continued to adopt and support new IBM technologies in the areas of server, storage, and software technology. We then brought all these areas together to provide a total solution to fulfill customer requirements. |
||
| In 1995, Co-owners Doug Gerstmyer and Carson Soule built and moved into our current 31,000+ square foot headquarters location in
Laurel, Maryland. This was necessary to accommodate our company growth. |
||
| In 1998, we opened our second location in Richmond, Va. to provide closer resources to customers in the southern region of Virginia. |
||
| In 2001, Severn Companies, Inc. became a wholly-owned subsidiary of CAS. This joining of companies expanded our industry coverage
model to now include public sector and federal government accounts. |
||
| In 2008, we established a partnership with HP and further expanded our set of offerings. |
||
| In 2009, we built a separate data center with redundant power, a generator, 24-hour security and many other features based on the
requests from customers to provide a site where they can have their production systems and/or disaster recovery systems hosted. |
||
| In 2010, we acquired the N/Compass software suite from our long-time partner Arrow Enterprise Computing Solutions as part of
our strategy to continue to grow our core business and leverage the strong skills of our staff. |
