Systems and storage management is a big concern in the information age. Businesses today are faced with the challenge
of limited IT budgets, disparate systems and the need to keep business-critical applications available at all times.
We can help. We offer:
- Server consolidation and virtualization
Using proven methodologies and tools, CAS Severn consultants can measure the CPU performance, disk I/O, Network utilization and
application function of the servers in your environment. Whether it is Microsoft Windows, UNIX or LINUX, Intel or System i (iSeries)
the CAS Severn team possesses the experience and expertise to gather the statistics necessary to make the right server consolidation
recommendations.
Virtualizing the operating system environment and various input/output devices is a key component of consolidation. CAS Severn has
formed a strong partnership with VMware to bring you state of the art consolidation for Intel. The knowledge gained from countless
Virtual Machine implementations has provided our Engineering team with the experience to improve the utilization of your servers.
- Storage consolidation and virtualization
Storage virtualization is new for our competitors, but not for us. The IBM SAN Volume Controller has a proven track record, and
we have the implementation experience to show you just how a product that appears to be complex can make managing your storage so easy.
- High availability and clustering
Implementing a High Availability solution is measurement relative to "100% operational up time". CAS Severn believes a business
is only as strong as its weakest link. As an IT department, everyone that uses your systems is affected by how well you design
it for the maximum "up time". Working with your staff, CAS Severn Engineers can design and implement the "HA" components
that
position your systems for "five 9s" (99.999% or 5+ minutes downtime per year) of availability.
- Data backup and recovery management
CAS Severn implements an intelligent backup and restore solution that utilizes a revolutionary, progressive incremental backup
and restore strategy from Tivoli. This type of system gives you centralized data protection based on intelligent data movement
and intelligent data storage technology leading to rapid backups and restores with reduced network resources.
Most organizations execute nightly backups which is great for those "planned" disasters, although the only planned disaster is usually
a disaster recovery test with data that is a few days old. CAS Severn Engineering not only utilizes Disaster Recovery Manager (DRM),
a component of IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, but can show you how to effectively use a method for Continuous Data Protection (CDP).
This relatively new concept of data management and recovery enables organizations to protect their most critical data by capturing
changes continually throughout the day.
- Network and directory service design and implementation
One challenge that CAS Severn hears over and over again from our customers is that the "Network is slow" or that they don't
have
any network monitoring and management in place. They want to find a cost-effective solution to this problem, which they face on a
daily basis.
CAS Severn can assist in network assessment, network upgrade planning and implementation, network monitoring and finally network
management. CAS Severn uses a combination of network monitoring tools to determine network bottlenecks, bandwidth planning, and
network design experience to solve WAN communications problems.
Once the network design issues are solved, CAS Severn can take customers to the next level, with both network monitoring and
management. Once the network has a robust design and implementation, the next set of requirements would be to monitor for
equipment failures and WAN outages. As part of the network management, one of the most important features is an effective
reporting and escalation chain to determine who is fixing the problem, the estimated time to effect repair, and notifying
upper management of the work.
- Data center
CAS Severn offers disaster recovery environments designed around the premise of dedicated customer equipment - either yours or
equipment provided by us. Each customer establishes the level of service that fits their business needs and budget.
A dedicated recovery environment enables our customers to realize aggressive recovery time objectives and recovery point objectives
through pre-staged, pre-configured and pre-loaded warm or hot recovery environments.
CAS Severn also offers application hosting and server co-location.
